1990 fleetwood with 454 no fuel issue

I have a 1990 Fleetwood flair with a 454 tbi so far I have replaced fuel filter, ignition control module, injectors checked all fuses and still im getting no initial primer shot but if I pour gas in it it will start and then stall soon as gas runs out could it be the ecu or ecm and what is the fuel pressure supposed to be and could it be something else and do I have to have both batteries to run
  • yes the fuel pump is working I checked the fuel pressure after the fuel filter and it was like 12psi somewhere I read it was supposed to be between 9 and 13

EDIT. I was wrong - deleted my erroneous post so no one gets misled.

    Found this:

So it looks like the pressure switch does take over post-prime. Looks like you can run the pump from the ALDL.
  • The fuel pump relay only operates for a few seconds to prime the system. Once the engine has oil pressure the oil pressure sending unit contacts powers the fuel pump.

  • You didn't mention the fuel pump. I hope that was an oversight because that's where you should have started. There should be a test lead somewhere that when provided 12V will close the relay and allow the fuel pump to run. If it doesn't run, bypass the relay to see if the pump runs. If the pump still doesn't run it's probably bad. As someone else mentioned, it will be an in-tank pump that requires dropping the tank to replace unless there's an access hole inside somewhere.
  • Welcome to RV.net!
Only pressure I come up with is 56-62 PSI.
Initial prime when you turn on the ignition switch is through the fuel pump relay. It is normally located under the dog house mounted to metal shield along left side of the engine on the frame rail.Fuel pump relay
Next is to check or maybe even replace the oil pressure sending unit.Oil pressure sending unit
Verify that the fuse is good? My book says it is fuse #9. This sends power to the oil pressure gauge on an orange wire and sends power to the fuel pump relay.
Verify that your rod is moving the ignition switch.
Try adjusting the tilt on the steering wheel as it has some effect on the linkage to the ignition switch.Ignition switch
  • Well the most obvious thing would be the fuel pump. I believe it is located inside the fuel tank.
