1993 Fleetwood Bounder Solar Fuse

Hello All!

I have a question about the solar fuse in my coach. If you notice in this picture there is a solar fuse on the top row, 5th fuse from the right. Now I don't have a solar panel on this coach but would like to do so. For what purpose would this spade connector serve? I'm wondering if this is an incoming or outgoing service? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • I have discovered that the original AC unit had a small solar panel on the top that charged the house batteries. When the unit was replaced the line was disconnected. Inside the new AC unit is the power supply line that feeds the BCC from the old solar panel. Can I use this line with a new solar panel and is this a good option or should I set up a solar system from scratch?
  • Thanks, that cleared that up. Now all I have to do is find mine.
  • Hi, Jamsvet,

The BCC is the Battery Control Center. On my current coach all battery functions are performed in this center. It contains my relays, fuses, and terminals for most everything that uses either the crank or house batteries as the power source when not on AC power.
  • Look on the inside AC cover and see if it has a red LED on it. If so, your Bounder came with a 5 watt solar panel mounted on the AC (front if you have 2 ACs). Will say solar monitor beside the LED. That panel fed the BCC through the fuse that you are questioning. The panel was supposed to be a battery maintainer. Not worth fixing it it breaks.

  • Thanks, Skip.

Update: I called Fleetwood and received the schematics they have but none detail the BCC enough to provide clarity. Looks like this will be trial and error when I get started on the solar. My hope is to trace the line and see where it goes. With any luck it will charge the house batteries and I can then wire up an inverter.
  • Look out "incoming!!!"
Looks like your wire from the future solar panel goes into terminal 3 on that plug....
