2003 Bounder dash and instrument lights

I have a 2003 Bounder with Workhorse mod W22. I recently noticed the dash and instrument lights do not work at night(or day). I rarely drive at night as I am usually setup by then but the dash and instrument lights do not come on with the light switch. All other exterior lights function correctly. However if you press the ICC switch the dash and instrument lights will appear then go out. If you hold down the ICC switch the lights will remain on. Does anyone have any idea of the cause? I recently had the roof replaced could they have possibly wired something incorrectly?
  • Disconnect the wires going to the ICC lights and put them on the correct fused circuit, which is the 10 amp fuse marked MKR LPS. This should leave ONLY the Actia dash lights on their own circuit, which is the 10 amp fuse marked ILLUM.
  • Thanks I will try that and see if it does the trick. By taking out ICC you mean just unplug or unplug an connect the circuit?
  • Any additional items on the same 12 volt circuit lowers the voltage and kills the dash lights on the Actia dash, which is used on the W22. The fuse is underneath the dash on the left side of the steering column. Run a jumper to the dash lights from another source and you will see that they work fine.
Take off the ICC lights and I'll bet they work fine.
It didn't make a lot of sense to me but I know what corrected the problem and that was good enough for me. If you look at your wiring diagram you will see that the ICC lights are supposed to be on a different circuit than the Actia dash.
  • The reason for my supecting the roof replacement is they would have been into the wiring.

The ICC switch should act as a circuit breaker interupting the electrical power supply to the running lights when depressed, then when released power is restored to the running lights causing them to flash (if I am correct on how ICC switch and lights function).

No matter how they function the Instrument lights and dash lights should not be impacted in any way by the ICC switch.
  • well if that is the case I need to get it back to the shop that put the roof on as it worked fine prior to taht and I have adde no new electrical equipment.
  • I suspect that you have something that is ALSO wired in to the light circuit that is causing your problem. I added a couple of extra lights to my interior and I piggy backed in to the circuit that also supplied power to the dash lights. The dash lights would work fine until I turned on one of the new lights, then they would go off, as well as my gauges. Once I moved the new wires to another circuit the problem went away.
I'm guessing that your ICC lights are hooked in to the same circuit with your dash lights. They need to be moved to another circuit.
  • Yes I have checked that rolled all the way up and down no affect. The ICC switch it seems is only controling an alternate sorce of power. I believe it is a wiring issue i.e. something crossed or left off when roof was replaced.

    Thanks for your reply.
  • Have you checked the setting on the light switch or knob nearby that controls the brightness? It may be turned to the lowest setting or off.
