Adjusting winegard roadtrip in motion

I have a winegarad rodatrip in motion with directv. Last year it stopped being able to find a signal. All wires good, receiver recognized, it simply wouldn't find a Sat. So my dealer checked it out and said the dish under the dome needed to be adjusted. That cost me $100. It's doing it again. Anyone know how to adjust one of these?

I think the dealer "got ya"! There are no mechanical adjustments or software updates that are available for a Winegard dome antenna. More than likely they made a change to your receiver setup or cabling to resolve the issue.
Exactly what model DirecTV receiver are you using? Do you use this in your home and move it to the RV? Have you done the Repeat Satellite Setup routine? Any additional info would be helpful.

Not sure the model receiver, it's an older (dark grey model). Yes it can be used at home or in the RV. I have noticed when the dome is trying to find the signal there was a new noise, almost like a grinding or slipping of the belt. Is this possible and could cause the issue? I have done the set up routine. I have called DTV to ensure the reciever can accept a signal and tested it in the house. I am at a loss at this point. The dealer seems to know how to fix it but I'd rather not spend another $100. Originally I thought it was the small black receiver (forget what it's called (DNS??)) but they said no.

  • Send a pm to Bill.Satellite (Bill Winegard) I'm sure he could help you out.
    Maybe post in Technology Corner.

Eddy, not sure this will work for you but I had the same issue.

I took off the dome cover than manually adjusted it so it picked up the signal (compass is needed). Works after that

This is from Winegards manual. I have worked on and FIXED dozens of Winegards and have NEVER had to do or have heard of such a thing. Doug

The Mission antenna is designed to be maintenance free. However, it is a good
idea to clean the dome from time to time with a soft cloth, water and dish soap

All I can tell you is they said they did an adjustment at the advice of winegard

I think you need the software that the dealer has.

Nope, they said totally mechanical adjustment

NO adjustment at all. The ONLY thing in the dome mechanical would be IF some part came loose. BUT, NO ADJUSTMENT ever needed. I would NOT trust that dealer again. Doug
