If you are doing it yourself you need to drain the transmission into a bucket that has quart markings on the side. Refill with exactly that amount. It will usually be about 11 quarts.
iam aware of changing trans oils over the years.I based my post on the information that U posted
you clearly said 11 quarts will drain.I said it only hold 13 quarts
I would not waste the cost of 11 quarts of 295 $$$ oil just because of about a 2-3 quart dilution of the old oil
On a side note in my old mechanic days we use to drill a hole in the converter to drain it(if no drain plug) and just mig it back over after - ArchHoaglandExplorer

Do NOT use Dexron 6.

Drive the coach 15 to 20 miles and then drain the transmission again and refill. That is what Allison recommends for a complete change.
Allison says do NOT do a pressure flush.
You need to replace the spin-on filter. There is a magnet at the base of it that needs to go on the new filter.
I suggest using Transynd if it doesn't already have it.
I've changed my transmission fluid four times now over the past 12 years/80,000 miles. It's a easy as changing your engine oil and filter.
the unit only holds 13 quarts so to me NO one in their right mind would put in 11 quarts of High$$ 295 oil and drive 20 miles and drain and refill over the dilution of 2 quarts of dex111 or whatever
You need to read the Allison transmission page to find out how to do a complete change and then you will understand.
You can't completely drain all the old fluid out, a lot stays in the converter. Hence they recommend a double drain and refill. One time I let it drain for two days. No help.
Believe me I'm not happy about it but that's how it is.
Although I'm not in my right mind anyways so it doesn't matter. - usersmanualExplorer

This is great advice. ALWAYS do what the mfg states when it comes to transmissions. Many people have learned the hard way with their dodge vehicles that ATF +3 is not Dextron 3. Be sure to use the exact fluid and procedure. - Carvin_MarvinExplorerThanks. Its an 02 W22 I thought every one knew that. Thanks

Allison wants transoil but do not know about the MFG wants or what is in your unit. Should add whats in the trans. Allison wants transoil when you change it
Transoil????
Do you mean Transynd? Not to be confused with JD Syntran, which is also an Allison approved fluid.
:):) - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIAllison recommends Transynd fluid or any that meet the Allison 295 standards.
If you currently have DexronIII, it will take two changes to meet the Transynd extended change interval recommendations.
