Allison World Transmission MD 3060 downshifts on a bump!

Hi All, We have a 1998 Monaco Dynasty with a Pac Brake, using a Allsion World Transmission model number MD 3060. We have loved it but something curious just starting happening yesterday. As we traveled in 6th gear, we hit a bump and noticed the transmission had kicked down to 4th gear. When I applied pressure to the throttle, the transmission went right back up to 6th gear and drove fine. I was thinking the spring on the Pac Brake pedal had grown weak and a bump had kicked in the pac brake (which normally goes to 2, 4 on the display, not to 4th gear)
I held up the Pac brake pedal with my foot but still had the problem re-occur on the next bumps. usually where the road goes over a bridge. They don't seem to know how to level the roadbed there!
Today on the second day, we noticed the problem with downshifting happened more often, but fortunately, could push the gas and get everything back up to 6th gear and cruising. I checked the transmission fluid level and is ok. Transmission temperature remains low, and normal about 180 degrees.
The Pac brake also continues to work find on it's own. We are in Missouri now and need to drive back to Phoenix so I'm wondering what might be going on. Any thoughts? We also appreciate the super helpful people on the forum. Can flashing the transmission take care of something like that?
I changed the transmission filters and fluid regularly and keep it clean.
  • I just replaced the throttle position sensor on my MD 3060. The problem started with hard downshifting which was fixed by adjusting the tps cable. The cable eventually broke after going over a big bump and the tps tells the transmission you are at wide open throttle. I had to turn off my pac brake to get it shifting again. The tps may need some attention. Hope that might help.
  • Have you checked for diagnostic codes using the shift pad???
