I'm sure "turn wide as you complete the turn (Figure 1)" means it is better to have the front of the coach off to the left after you turn and are now starting to go in the direction of the street you just turned right on -- in other words, it is better to swing left when completing your turn.
In fact, if you keep reading the instructions make clear they realize this strategy may take you into a lane of oncoming traffic: "If you must cross into the oncoming lane to make a turn, watch out for vehicles coming toward you. Give them room to go by or to stop. However, do not back up for them, because you might hit someone behind you."
Yet they still think this is safer than swinging wide left when initiating your turn. As they warn: "Do not turn wide to the left as you start the turn (Figure 2). A following driver may think you are turning left and try to pass on the right. You may crash into the other vehicle as you complete your turn."
Hope this helps with anyone having trouble visualizing what they instructions are advising.
