Audio interference

2007 HR Ambassador. I'm experiencing a very loud hum in my audio system when the inverter is operating. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and were able to rectify the problem. Any and all pertinent replies would be appreciated

    What make and model inverter.

HUM is common with MSW inverters Not all audio amps can filter the stepped wave form.. Not so common with PSW but .. Can happen.

Also Ground Loops are common in RV audio systems and those can do a number on you.. But I'll start with the inverter .
  • You can chase gremlins or buy a cheap car stereo filter that has a choke in both lines and caps.
  • In my limited experience, anytime a working piece of automobile audio equipment starts to get a hum that it didn't have before, it was a ground. Grounds get corroded, loose, etc. My bet is it's the ground for the stereo.
  • Most likely cause: a cheap inverter. Or do you mean converter?
