I liked idea of not making any holes in rv and only the awning pole that gets drilled. But even better was suggestion of using the hole already in awning pole already there. IMO
After reading your post again, I'm not sure if your talking about those support braces that help in transit or a lock that is usually mounted at end of awning. Anyway hope link helps.
At any rate drilling holes in rv always concerns me.
