Basement air cleaning

Took a look at the basement air filter on my unit. P.O. replaced it with a sheet of filter type material, ie not a filter.

In looking at the coils below the "filter" they are quite dirty. Can I use conventional coil cleaner on these from the air box side?

I presume there must be a condensation drain in the bottom of the unit on that side.
  • Yes, you can use any conventional coil cleaner. Alkaline base is safer than acid base cleaners. You can use a pump up sprayer to apply the coil cleaner and the same sprayer with clean water to rinse. The sprayer has pressure to get into the coils but low volume so the drain can handle it.
