Basement Air

I'm looking at a coach that has basement air and wondering if there are any issues I should be aware of and if there are any significant benefits.

Pro and Con comments would be appreciated.

Thanks for any input.
  • Would not have one. We decided the lose in basement space was not worth it. Then the problems a with find someone to do repairs and several provides have discontinued production of parts for these units.
  • Winnebago had the basement air and I loved it. There was a tendency for the cold air duct that goes from the unit,up under the rear cap, to the duct system in the ceiling to split apart at the seams. You can tell if this is happening by sticking your hand up along the duct to feel for cold air when the unit is running. Otherwise no other particular problems I am aware of after owning mine for 5 years.
  • I have it, I love it, and a tree limb has never touched it. I have knocked off the dish, the antenna, and the cover on one of the Fantastic fans but my a/c has never been touched and works flawlessly.
