Broken Thetford toilet - replace part or entire toilet?

One thing to consider is the height of the toilet. We replaced ours with a high profile toilet and it made it better.

Glad to help. I think the original posting was in the Full Timer's Section. Just go on Amazon and search for Dometic 310 RV toilet. No headaches here. It was a very easy job to replace. The toilet also came with a sprayer which my old toilet didn't have. If you have a riser under your old toilet, you'll have to order a second sealing gasket. Other than that, It came with everything I needed. If my first post wasn't clear, I PAID $88. It was shortly after that the seller raised their price. It has now dropped back below what I paid a few weeks back.

The new toilet had a porcelain bowl, a much better rinsing system and was slightly taller to boot which is an advantage for us older folks. The problem is that after I ordered mine, the Amazon seller raised the price, probably due to the interest generated here, but it was till a bargain at $130. I just rechecked this morning and they now have it priced at $83! It is a great bargain as the retail price for the toilet is $208.

An average, middle of the road crapper is $200. $88 will buy you a huge headache.

Replacing toilet parts is super easy. So is replacing the whole toilet. It all boils down to how much you feel like spending. If it were mine, and I otherwise liked the toilet, I'd swap out the broken parts in a heartbeat.
