- BrianinMichiganExplorerOne thing you have to keep in mind, CARB has to keep coming up with these things to keep it viable and their jobs.

very true and we all have a vested interest in making sure our vehicles are in top running condition. but that's really not the point, is it? if every state started throwing up these sorts of "rules" interstate commerce would grind to a halt. what's next...no gas/diesel powered vehicles allowed? what's your business in our state? and in our increasingly partisan world it's not a stretch to imagine...papers...papers, please.
we have no desire to go to CA for anything but as I wrote we have to. my BIL passed last week and we're his only immediate family. so we'll be going to clean out and put his condo up for sale and to close out his other affairs. but we want to get in, get it done and scram. CA in it's present condition has nothing to offer us.
maybe but i wouldn't put anything past a politician and especially a california politician (illinois, too). - LwiddisExplorer IIThere is no inspection station near Rhyolite.
- agesilausExplorer IIIThey would have to build and staff dozens of entry stations, how many roads cross the Cali border. I was watch one video earlier where the guy making it crossed the CA-NV border at Rhyolite.
And worst case even if your RV is in perfect condition they may hold you up for hours at the inspection station and charge you big bucks for the inspection. Have to pay all those Cali state salaries to man those stations. And this in the state where lifeguards can make $200K a year. - down_homeExplorer IIWhen this was first rolled out for Semi's It mandated retrofitting approved Emissions equipment for engines of 500 hp or some such Many engines were 550 Hp and over and required two of the systems!
I posted about it long time ago now. BIL in Az now retired drove semis for a living with firm based in California. Each system at the time was about 25,000.00 if I remember correctly. Not only semis but I think it included all heavy equipment for road or not. From reading the article I suppose Mhs will now have to pull into the checking/weigh stations for an exhaust test. I suppose they might make you turn around if not approved. Mhs prior to 07 did not have the expensive DEF or any other emissions equipment, except the Fed mandated tune in 04, I think, of higher engine temp, ******** injector timing and lower compression.
NOTE* We have stupid edit program. I said less advanced or backwards advanced injector timing it might have been alright.
have we gone PC here too? - atreisExplorer

Very true. But it's so much more dramatic and fun that way! :) rk911 wrote:

- dodge_guyExplorer IISo.....first they are checking for fruit coming into the state, now they want to test out of state vehicles? what`s next, paying an extra tax for the fuel in your tank while you are in Cali? draining your fresh water, so you can buy water from in state? paying a tax on the food you bring in because you arent buying it in state? where does it end. there are a few things I want to see in Cali, but if this keeps up, I wont be setting foot there!
- wanderingaimlesExplorerKali just keeps adding to the list of reasons NEVER to visit or spend money there.
