I doubt very much you'll be successful in finding a "good" A or C. If they are "good", they are not for sale. Owners keep good ones, they dump bad ones.
And if they are "good", they will be priced much more than you are wanting to pay.
My "good one" was sold by the private owner because their daughter was off to college and was not competing in horse events any longer.
We flew to Minnesota from S. Cal to get ours because it was exactly what we wanted both unit type and price.
Having lived in Marathon New York and dealing with salt damage to my vehicles I would be leary of purchasing local. Mine was stored over the winter inside, I looked underneath and no rust.
Pre -owned is the way to go and all of my vehicles must come with detailed service records, I like to purchase from people like me that keep track and stay on a scheduled maintenance program.
First time and purchasing pre owned, my best advice is to have an independent mechanic check it over, there are mobile mechanics out there to help you, best money you will ever spend.Getting it home and then discover it has water damage can ruin your day.
