Can’t find a good used C

Those dang cab-over leaks kill many class C motor homes before their time. That is why people who are wise about the problem and can live without a cab-over bed, get into a seamless B+. Not just seamless, but the B+ cap resonates so much less than an over-hanging cab-over.

There are a few class C's with a seamless cab-over bucket but are hard to find. The ones with lots of seam work are abundant, and are often leakers.

Just as an aside, when we bought our 24 foot Winnebago Class C new from a dealer it had sat on the dealer's lot for a year and so consequently they gave us a very good deal on it. I took me a couple of years of ownership to figure out what was most likely wrong with it such that it had been in the dealer's inventory that long.

What was "wrong" with it was that it did not have any slides .... and no slides is exactly what we had wanted anyway!

So ... if you leave slides/pop-outs off your desired features list, then it might help find a used RV that is in otherwise good condition. Slides do have negatives associated with them.

While I agree that you may be a bit light in what you are willing to pay versus what you want, you have to remember that right now there are tons of folks looking for exactly what you want. This is the busiest season and if you're looking for a bargain, it is unlikely to pop up. Soon all that will be left on dealer lots are the used units that everyone else passed on because they all have issues. Fall tends to be the best time to find what you want and have a decent inventory to choose from. Saying that I believe the best time to buy an RV is when you find the one that you love and can't live without. It took us 2 years.

That is right. The rig has no generator. Assuming that is critical for you as it would be for me, I advise to lower your offer accordingly, then on your way home, stop in at Phoenix USA in Elkhart, IN and have them install a new one for you. The space is already provided, and Phoenix will make sure it's all done right with the power transfer switch and all the rest. Call them for a quote on the cost for the generator and installation. Then adjust your offer to reflect it.

luberhill, true thats why I said have someone look at it 1st. Friend went to lost wages to look at one, was very nice in pictures but was a dog otherwise. He rode with some friends who were going there anyhow so no big deal

Also if traveling to look at, well its just another vacation opportunity. I guess air tickets are down some I dont know, I refuse to fly anymore.

trouble is IF you travel and find its junk or a leaker

expand your craiglist search to several states you would be willing to go to or have someone look at something for you. In AZ, Tx etc you can find just about anything you want but in your case that involves travel. There was about 31-32 C on a corner looked good, never stopped to look at it. it was going for 30K or so. so expand your search area. Friend got their 1st Class A from a corner sale and for less than the asking price.
