Class A Insurance - Options

I am getting ready to renew? or change, we have been with Progressive and just need to shop the rates and coverage options.

Appears to just keep going up - (sound familiar) just wondering if there are any surprises, good deals or new agents/companies to contact.

These are the normal options and in the order I rated them what do you think, and why?

In my 50 years paying in --- I have never had a claim, but feel like I've bought a New Coach.

Just looking for a good option - so if you have something positive to add please join in.

Currently have Tagged vehicles in three states (complicated)
Maryland
Colorado
Montana
and also own property in Delaware (so could register there)
Because of family spend most of my time in Maryland - but will leave soon, trying hard.

We use Farm and City as our independent agent. They have us insured with Nationwide, a division of Allied Insurance. One thing to remember is that fulltime insurance will cost more.

I got a great rate from the agent who holds my automobile policy. Insurance company is Erie.

Call around and get quotes. Don't necessarily stick to the companies that are heavily advertised. Since each state is different, the only way you are going to know what deals are available is to call a number of agents. You may be surprised.

I had Progressive for the DP the past 2 years and Liberty Mutual for everything else for decades. Decided to price everything in a package and Safeco saved me a bundle. Local agent was very helpful. .

I have National Interstate on the motor home and toad. They raised me $300.00 a year in april. I have State Farm on some other stuff including 2 houses. I have been a victim of their infamous rate creep over the last couple years. I have been shopping around on everything the last 2 months. I have found nothing better. They have an insurance clearing house where information is kept by all the companies and also shared by all the companies.
Maybe it is time to look into insurance companies PRICE FIXING.
Just a thought.

National Interstate. They will cover both the RV and the tow vehicle or toad. They also have fulltimers insurance.

Unless your Full Timing, Allstate allows you to suspend coverage and only pay comprehensive when parked over the Winter (never used on roads)...check with your company, they may be able to do the same. Most insurance quotes I got we very similar.

I've had GS (National General) for years. Rates have been quite good, and no increase after one claim.....replaced awning destroyed by wind. The best thing about it is the 'in storage' option. When not using your rv for a month or more, call and put it 'in storage' and you only pay comprehensive for that period of time.

I've had Progressive for the past 10 years, and they have gone up about $100 a year on me each of the past three years.

Paying about $1200 a year now for max collision and liability coverage, plus trip interruption, alternate lodging, towing and roadside assistance. Actual Cash Value (ACV) is set a $70K, which is above my actual RV loan payoff.

I usually call them every other year and adjust my ACV, which I consider my RV loan payoff rounded up to the next thousand. That will drop my annual cost $120-$150, keeping me around the $950 to $1100 a year range.

Progressive has a 5 year disappearing deductible feature, which saved me $1000 when I had an accident and busted up the rear cap in 2010. I'm now back to zero deductible since that accident.

Have been with Progressive for 15yrs. (2 RV's) One claim and no significant increases. Just checked last week and can't find a cheaper rate.
