cooking with the micro/convection oven

the micro/convection oven we have is void of a users guide, only found a owners manual on line which does not help learning to cook in it and my wife is wanting to know. Its a Panasonic Gemini, help will be appreciated
  • The microwave part will be just like any other microwave.

The convection part is easy. If a recipe calls for 400 degrees, cook it at 375 degrees and usually for a shorter time; perhaps minus 10 min. or so. You need to check it. When cooking with the convection, you can use metal pans but unlike the microwave - DON'T use saran wrap, paper towels or wax paper; use foil. :) Think of it as a regular home oven. Any recipe can be used in the convection, just adjust temp and time a little.
  • Perhaps the Camp Cooks forum section has more answers for you. YouTube has videos on everything.
  • My wife generally agrees with 2gypsies, but wanted me to add that she found that turning the metal shelf (used only with the convection mode) upside down and setting the temp to 425 makes a decent broiler for making toasted garlic bread.
  • Maybe you had not tell how it works. Cause once she figures it out she is going to want one for the stick house too!
