DISAPPOINTED in Liquid Nail Product

RE: Liquid Nails Adhesive, Professional Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive.

I've attached 3 photos that show the condition of the motorhome steps and one photo of the Liquid Nails Product I used. The product parameters clearly state interior/exterior, and water/weather resistant. That has not been the case with it's use in this project. The carpet has been adhered to the steps since November 6th. When it's dry, the product is hard. Wetness softens and I'm getting the drip you see in the photos. The steps have gotten to the condition you are now viewing several times; cleaning was necessary each time. Would certainly appreciate your comments if you've used this product.
  • Liquid Nails is meant to be a Nail replacement and you would not use nails on metal. I to use the carpet with eyelets and zip ties this works great and you can replace the carpet easily with they get dirty.
  • A quick call to Liquid Nails might help clear up the problem.

Here is some contact information: Phone: (800) 634-0015

    Email: liquidnails@ppg.com

Let us know how it turns out.

We have read and re-read the instructions for use that are on the can and they do not exclude metal.
  • Yeah I would not expect it to work in that application. Its meant for gluing plywood/paneling to drywall or wood to wood. I personally do not like the product. Gorilla Glue would have worked.
  • That's better.
Eeeeww, that's a mess! So much for being water resistant.
When I made mine I used a slightly larger piece of carpet that wrapped around the top and bottom and then secured in back with eyelets and zip-ties.
They have held up well and when they get worn I just flip them over so the unused carpet is on the top. This would solve your problem and cover the ugly glue.
