If you have the ladder mount adaptor, it would be way up by the top your roof. I really doubt anyone would attempt to steal it, as they would be attracting lots of attention to themselves.

I have the VuCube 2000, which is just a fancier version of the Tailgater. I also have the ladder mount. When the ladder mount position offers me a clear shot at the satellites, I just connect the cable and leave it right there. When soemething is blocking the view of the satellite, I take the cube down and position it for a clear shot.

And yes, it stays on the ladder mount (padlocked) for storage and travel.
