Dometic Thermostat / 12v power issue...

. 1996 39' Terry Parkmodel
. Coleman AC with non-digital therostat
. Replaced AC with Dometic AC (Brisk Air II - 15k BTU)
. Dometic LCD thrmostat (3313189.000)

All the connections from AC to control box are done.
Same with connections to thermostat.
Had no power when switch flipped - then saw 12v to power the thermostat. Hooked it to a motorcycle battery and got power. All ran fine.

So, here's my issue...

How do I run or get power to the thermostat permanently?
The RV doesn't EVER move (it's in a RV community (Woodhaven - Sublette, IL.) I'm confused as to how this can get hooked up. A friend mentioned I need an Inverter? Really? Any idea's please!
  • Lighting in MHs is almost surely 12v. Working with electricity sans a voltmeter is kinda risky.

Wow, 15 years on here and still a "new" member. Don't see that every day.
  • I do have a light switch right next to the thrmostat... but isn't that running 110v?

Also, are wire i'm talking about says 12v to power (or supply - I can't remember, are a few of you saying I can run this wire to the thermostat directly for power?) I'm getting sooo confused.

Hopefully you have a light switch nearby so you can run a wire from it to the Tstat.
  • If there isn't 12v available at the thermo, I guess you'll have to run your own wire. Or, replace with a battery-operated thermo.

No, an inverter won't do that. Well-meaning friends say the funniest things.
  • Our Dometic gets power (12 volt) from a control box in the AC. It runs thru a telephone wire. You she have a dedicated 12 volt line running from your converter to the AC unit. On the internet type in the part number and you will get installing instructions.
