We decided to replace the scissor arm on our front door with the above strut after seeing it on our friends door. It works great for us. Door stays open better when parked and is much quieter driving down the road than the old scissor arm was.
how and or why would it be quieter?
Just when I thought you knew everything.
LOL hey brez your like a bad cold just wont go away LOL:B

Don't really know why - just know it is. Only thing I can think of is the two arms of the scissor rubbing together was the source of the rattle we used to hear.
makes sense I was thinking wind noise verses none but never thought of a rattle. sounds good to me - usersmanualExplorer

Just when I thought you knew everything. - BigSkyBobExplorerI too replaced the scissor arm with a 20" gas struct but used one with 30 lbs of force to hold the door open against windy conditions. The door still closes easily.
