In Europe, you can use adapters only when the appliance states the power source is 120-240v. If the appliance is 120v only, then using only an adapter (no power converter) will only work till the smoke comes out and that will be est. 1.5 seconds.
Thanks for the answer in simple language, to the 220-110V appliance usage question.

RoyB, I think the Europeans have updated things like we have here in the US in that amount of time.
We manufacture electrical items that we ship around the world. All of our European products have at a 3 prong connection.

Good Afternoon. All electrical appliances are 220. 110 appliances will not work there. You can use small adapters for low current appliances.
I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear. The electric units that we send to Europe are 220 with a three prong European plug.

110V appliances will work as long as you have a converter. The one we used for my wife 1500W hairdryer is 50W to 2000W. Any appliance under 50W or over 50W up to 2000W there is a switch on the converter. We only used it the first time (2006) and it has sat in a drawer ever since. Small electronics transform the 220V(Europe) or 110V (NA) down to +-12V no matter where it is plugged in.

RV Standard. Still do not see a reply on that. - crosscheckExplorer IIWe cycle tour in Europe every other year and with a simple adapter which accepts the NA 120V prongs, all of our electronic gear which includes battery chargers, iPhone, iPad, Garmin charges seamlessly due to each one having their own transformer. The only thing we did differently after our first tour when my wife brought her hair dryer from home and we had to buy a bulky 50W-2000W transformer to use the thing, is buy a French 220V hairdryer which is used every day. Now this transformer would work if you are using an RV and you have brought some of your own 120V appliances with you, but lugging a heavy chunk of metal(transformer) over mountain passes isn't fun.
Just one other comment, the Swiss adapter will fit in the standard european socket but the reverse is not the case.
Since we started cycle touring 14 years ago, there has been an explosion of all different kinds of RV's in Europe replacing many of the large family tents which used to be so common.

In some areas I guess but not all :W Didn't see one slide out.
I was speaking 'electrically', we were talking about electrical plugs.
