Exterior of slide out floor is bulging.

If it's not one thing, it's another....

Today while walking around the outside of my Fleetwood Fiesta I noticed that the floor of one of my slideouts is sagging and the seam is coming apart.

What could cause this? What should I be worried about? And how can I fix it?

Thanks!

  • I haven't noticed any signs of water damage so I don't think that's what it is. Hopefully.

I'm thinking it may have happened while operating the slide. When I push up on it, I am unable to bend it back into position. It would take quite a bit of force. Would I be ok to just fill the gap with dicor or something to keep water out?
  • I have a 2004 Fiesta, mines been like that for about 5 years now.Initially I tried metal screws but found that it interfered with the slide out operation.
Mine is definitely not from a leak. I've been keeping my eye on it,it;s not getting any worse so I just live with it.Have about 70,000 miles on it.

It's hard to tell from the photo, but if there is room, I would add a piece of thin angle iron over the length of the sag or replace the steel that is there with a piece of angle iron.

Good Idea. From the pictures it looks like something like suggested above would work. Use clamps or a small jack or two, to push the materials back together and drill and thru bolt in place using flat washers on top to spread the pressure from the nuts out. No way this is a thousands of dollars fix.

Almost looks like the trim caught something and bent it. Maybe a screw that caught it when pulling in the slide. Are you sure the whole thing is sagging or just that piece of trim? In any event, it needs to be fixed (whatever that means) before you get water intrusion if you haven't already.

I would guess that you had a leak that went unnoticed and the floor of the slide-out now needs to be replaced. It is repairable but not cheap. I've seen prices in the $3000-$6000 range to repair this.

I sure hope that's not what it is!
