Final decision - Forest River Forester-2251LE

After reading all your advice (thank you very much) and comparing each suggested models at the local dealer, I finally decide on this Forest River 2251LE (New, 2014 model as shown below) . Per the salesperson, the MSRP is $70146 (is this true ?) but they are selling it for $49,995 . Do you think this is a good price ? How low can they go ? Have anyone recently bought the same model ? Would you advice against this model ?

And finally, should I choose FORD or CHEVY chassis ?

thanks
  • $49,999 Dont sound too bad when you consider that you cant hardly buy a 3500 or 4500 truck for that.
    Enjoy !!!
  • Drove both 2006 chassis and chose the Chevy. The newer version would be superior. Go Chevy for many reasons ....footroom, MPG, ride, handling, smooth V8 sound. You will not be disappointed.
  • In 2012 we drove both the Ford and the Chevy. The Chevy had better legroom for passenger, was able to get from seats to back more easily. Chevy is reported to have better handling, although Ford handling can be improved with a front end alignment after break in period. Ford has slightly better cargo capacity, but that should not be a factor on the size you are looking at. Chevy has 1-2 mpg better mileage in the smaller sized MH.

Can't really say which is best--often a matter of personal preference. I can say we are completely satisfied with our Chevy.
  • I have had no problems with my Ford. However, if I had it to do over and had a choice, I might choose the Chevy. The Chevy 4500 was not available in 2010 when I bought mine which is why I did not consider it. I saw a C on a Chevy 4500 at Camping World a while back and it had much more room in the driver's area.
  • Looks like a great price, almost a 30% discount. We got about a 30% discount on ours, $95k marked down to $67k, it was new but it was a 'last years' model at the time.
  • It's a good price. If you have multiple dealers to play against each other, you might get it down a bit more. We bought our 2014 Sunseeker 2300 for just a hair more than that. It has a higher MSRP than the 2250/51LE, and in that particular model the Sunseeker and Forester are identical. In other models the Forester is more upscale.
