Foam Mattress Question.....

Our previous coach came with a sleep number mattress.....what a piece of JUNK! The first year the motor was replaced under warranty as were the wands. Soon after, the new wands wouldn't show the number but worked. That lasted about a year then the mattress would loose air on one side.

We threw that mattress away in a dumpster in St. Charles, MO, and had a regular Beauty-Rest mattress delivered and installed at the motorhome.... the best thing we ever did! I will never own another sleep number mattress again. (And, ours swelled too going through Colorado).

The new 'regular' mattress was thicker (and so comfortable) but it was difficult to raise the lid under the bed. I only kept extra sheets and the bedspread (decorative) under there. I could hold the lid up with my shoulder if I needed to retrieve anything.

When we sold the coach, I bought a new RV mattress at Camping World and took the Beauty-Rest to use on a guest bed at the house.

When replacing a Sleep Number, you have to make sure that the new mattress fits when the slides are closed and make sure that the new thickness doesn't block any light switches next to the bed.

We have a foam mattress in the sticks and bricks and it is the worse I have ever (was in the service and slept on some terrible beds) slept on. Hot, cold, weighs a ton, forms ruts etc.

It is one of the best models you see advertised on TV. Also don't think you can't feel movement in the mattress.

We had a very expensive foam mattress at home. After about two years it felt like we were sleeping in a hole. They break down and you start sinking after a while. Or at least ours did. Which is why we now own a sleep number bed and love it. We like it because you can adjust it to whatever makes you comfortable. Planning on getting one for the motorhome someday...

We bought our bedinabox.com 11 inch foam mattress 5-6 years ago for our older coach. We loved it so much that when we upgraded to a newer MH, we took it with us. It was difficult to move, but we got it in.

All these years later it's like brand new with no indentations.

Our lifts under the bed hold ours up just fine, but we have rear access to our engine and only need to raise the bed to get in the underbed storage. You might be better just getting a mattress topper?? We do love our mattress though.

In my last motorhome I purchased an 8 inch foam mattress from Wal-mart. We still have it on one of the beds in the house and it gets rave reviews and I have other foam mattresses. We now have sleep number as the coach came with it. It is ok. I am still playing with numbers. I think the foam from Wally was about 250. I wouldn't have purchased it if I didn't need it quickly and it turned out very well. I do like my foam mattresses and not so pleased with the gel ones.

I think that it measures about 10" with the topper.

It's a full queen, I don't remember the brand but we got it at one of the mattress stores (mattress warehouse I think). We were more concerned about height as the bedroom slide out has to fit under the wardrobe slide on the other side when closed. We just found one comfortable then measured height to make sure it fit.

We have a 10" Memory foam mattress with a cooling get topper. Bought them on Amazon,ours is a short queen. Amazon has most sizes, you just need to measure.

The gas struts do come in different strengths and it's a pretty easy fix if yours doesn't have enough umph to lift it (I've had to replace a couple on outside basement doors).

Is yours a short queen? What brand mattress? I don't seem to be able to find much in a conventional mattress.
