- Mr_Mark1ExplorerI fill with fresh water (100 gallon tank) and use it along the way. Once we get down to just above a quarter of a tank, I'll fill again and off we go.
Our new coach will use the water from the fresh tank only (189 gallons). So, we'll only connect to shore water when needed.
I try to keep the fresh tank full most of the time because you just never know. If we weigh 39,500 or 40,000 lbs., it's just no big deal.
MM. - chuckftboyExplorerI travel with around 25 gallons, enough to flush and wash our hands. We drink bottled water so there is no need to carry all that extra weight. I only travel with a full tank when we won't have hook-ups. I have never felt the water slosh around while 1/3 full.
- B_s_BunchExplorerWe carry at least 1/2 to 3/4 enough to Sh$%, shower and shave. If not going far we carry what ever is left in tank. We usually have fresh water all the time. Never leave water in tank for long without replacing it. try to always have fresh water.

Sloshing isn't going to hurt anything and you won't hear it going down the road. We keep ours almost full to have enough to use while not parked in a campground.
As far as extra cost for having a full tank...well water is about 6# per gallon so if you have a 90 gallon tank, add about 540#s of water full, 1/2 would be around 250 so about the same if you took another guest along to go from 1/2 to full. I'd not worry about it because I doubt that would take enough extra fuel for you to notice unless your rig is underpowered pulling steep grades in the high country all day long.
The best advice is take enough you have for 2-3 days on the road without a stop/just in case of an emergency. It doesn't pay to go out empty!
You seem to have very light water. Ours is a little over 8# per gallon. - Sully2ExplorerYES! or very close to it
- GreydennyhawkExplorerPs : water is 8.34 lbs/ gal at 68 F

I agree. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer III depends upon how much water you can hold and how much water you need on a daily basis. I keep at least a 1/2 tank of fresh water when traveling in case I don't make my destination or change my plans. I often travel with a full tank but I don't sweat it one way or the other as long as I have 1/2. The weight would rarely be an issue with a big diesel pusher but could cause a slight drop in mileage on a smaller coach. I carry 165 gallons of fresh and that lasts me about 5 days as I like long hot showers in the morning, I drink and flush the water, I make ice and the wife might do a load of laundry which cuts one days usage. You just need to know what you have, what you use and how you will be traveling to make an informed decision. The sloshing issue is not an issue so it's just about weight and fill me now or fill me later.

- full-timerExplorerI always carry a full tank of water. I also never make reservations and have no idea where I will be spending the night.
