Full Wall Slide ??

We have a long (28 ft or so) full wall slide on the driver's side, plus two slides on the passenger side. The added space makes it feel like a home away from home. The coach is three years old and we have not had any problems with the slides. I would buy another one if we were in the market.

Been discussed many times. Do a search on full wall slide and you will find plenty of reading. Bottom line for me 5 yrs 75000 miles one small issue of alignment from day one which was corrected and never had another problem with the FWS. I would never own a coach without one.

My mistake: With the PS bedroom slide in we cannot use the WD. Absolutely no issue for us!

IMHO the most important aspect of slides is inside access when all slides are in. We can get to almost everything with the slides in and with just the DS 18" bedroom slide out we can access everything including walk around the bed (vs over the bed).

So my advice when considering a rig bring in the slides and decide what works for you.

Slides are going to limit access to under storage in a typical DP. Like an above poster my wet bay is between the slides.

But why consider what slide failure could suspend travel??? How many other one failure items can do the same? Probably hundreds consider: Dead battery, bad starter switch, many many feet of wiring, flat tire, any tranny item, any engine item, etc.

I spent hours trying to get my front slides in due to: A failed Lipper hydraulic pump due to 2 major issues - A poor seal design (motor flooded with hydraulic fluid) and a totally botched design for manual retraction. I jury rigged the pump and got the slides in and Lipper replaced the pump. Did I mention that the new pump was a new design that replaced the old failed design?

If the Safari has the RR4R chassis, the trailing arms issue is a big thing and costs about 3000 to do right....if it is an RR8R chassis, then that's OK...I have seen some campsites that a full wall slide could hit the hookup post...also have seen full wall slide on pass side (ie Thor Tuscany 40X)..If you like it, go for it but make sure if it is the 4 air bag chassis, make sure the trailing arm recall, upgrade has been done.

We have a 2007 Fleetwood with a full slide,we love the room it gives us. We try to be level though before we put the slide in and out. To us this is a minor problem like dealing with plumbing. I keep an old throw rug where I have to kneel to service it.;)

We bought ours new in 2011 and have not had any issues with the full wall slide. Coach is 43 feet and full wall slide is 23 feet. Hydraulically operated and moves slick as can be, just need to make sure 2 front windows or entrance door is open when slide moves - very large volume changing in a short time, you can feel the air blow through windows when slide moves.
The amount of space it opens up is great - would buy same floor plan again.

My full wall slide has always worked flawlessly and its a full 30 inches deep. We really like all the extra space it affords. I don't think I will ever have another coach without one.

I own a 2008 Monaco Diplomat SFT, bought in March 2008. I've put about 25,000 miles, mostly in short to mid-length trips. Every time we stop, I put out at least the full wall slide, even if it is just in a rest stop.

I've never had a moment's problem. Before I put the slide out, I extend my left arm putting my fingertips against the coach, starting at the front of the driver's side, and walk to the rear. If anything comes between my left shoulder and the coach, the slide cannot be put out.

It is true that the water and sewer connections are under the slide when it is out. In my walk, I set up the water connections and sewer, and electric - which is not really blocked.

When we are departing, I pull the slide in prior to emptying the tanks.

The full slide was the decision factor for me.
