I suppose many of us have gone through the harrowing experience of a tire blow out. Have you?...tell us about it. Maybe this post will be of benefit to those new to the RV'ing world and maybe others. Would like for responses to at least briefly cover: 1. type tire 2. age (years) of tire 3. where located (front, rear outside, etc.)4. cause if known 5. how did you change or get the tire changed. If with a roadside service company...were you satisfied with response and service?6. did the blow out cause you to lose control or an accident7. did the coach sustain damage?9. Any other information you think might be 'educational' or of some benefit to a newbie. Here's my story: On I-75 just north of Atlanta (thankfully not in downtown Atlanta!!), Goodyear, six years old, rear inside, cause of blow out unknown. Called our road side service company provided by (Wholesale Warranties). A local truck tire service company arrived within 30 minutes of the call with a new tire. Tire installed and back on the road in less than two hours. Very satisfied. Did not lose control of coach and no damage.

Drivers side inside rear dually.4. Tire separation between tread ridges.5. Coach Net. This was in the middle of Canada, took maybe 3 hours all together. Satisfied.6. No.7. No.9. Had hit some road waddles some 200 miles earlier at too high a speed. Shouldn't have been going that fast. Think the compression after returning to earth on one flight of the chassis caused the tread to separate.

yes.1. Goodyear G670 with 8,000 miles2. just under 5 years old3. two in the same day, front driver, rear passenger inside dual4. Cause: unknown. suspected under inflated for the weight of coach.5. Roadside service6. No. Traveling under 40 mph both times.7. No damage9. Make sure you know your weight and understand "G" verses "F" rated tires. Goodyear G670 makes both a "G" and an "F" rated tire. Make sure you know which they sold you and verify the PSI because many times tire dealer installers are not educated on Motorhome tires.

Yup. Goodyear 670RV with about 45-50,000 miles and 8 years old. Blew a hole in the LF sidewall at 65 mph on the interstate. Loud,Loud explosion and MH moved left a couple of feet. I got it straightened out and then tapped the brake to get the CC off. Let it slow down and then got off on the shoulder. A call to my road service and my spare tire got us back on the road in about an hour and a half.The biggest risk was the possibility of over correcting when turning back to the right. With the LF tire flat, the MH was leaning to the left and steering correction to the right could have easily been over done resulting in loss of control.

Left front on my F250 PU. Goodyear that came on the PU. With new steering stablizers hardly feel anything in steering wheel. Unable to contact GS. Called a tire dealer in Cody. They came out and put on the spare. Drove into town and replaced tires with Hankook since the Goodyears had 50,000 miles on them. When we got home signed up for Coach net.

I had my right front steer tire blowout one time on my semi it was in the mid 1970's and I was doing 60 MPH on Hwy.#101 near the Hoh River, in Washington State. I had a death grip on the wheel, I steered straight, did not touch my brakes, and I just coasted to the side of the road. No problems just called road service from Forks, WA. and I was back on the road in a hour and a half. Don't remember much of the details except the tire was a Bridgestone.

5. how did you change or get the tire changed. If with a roadside service company...were you satisfied with response and service? - Coachnet Road Service. Instead of towing the MH the tire service put emergency tire on to get to their facility (10 miles). Very satisfied with Coachnet.

9. Any other information you think might be 'educational' or of some benefit to a newbie. Northbound on Canada Rte 17 in Ontario 10 miles south of White River. 2 lanes north, 1 lane south. Car was passing us in fast lane when we spotted wheel (with a tire on it) in our lane. Could not move over without driving passing car off the road. Told wife to hang on and I drifted just slightly left to avoid full impact with wheel. Hit the wheel slightly to left of center and it flew off into the verge. Michelin blew immediately, but MH stayed straight (I was gripping wheel rather tightly). I did not brake until very slowed down.

Lessons learned: 1. helpful to have a spare in the "outback" (Canada, Alaska Highway) - we did not. Had to wait 3 days for suitable size.
2. Be very aware of surroundings (passing cars, lane issues etc.) so you can make any quick decisions on where to point the rig.
3. Check your roadside/hazard coverage. We actually had hazard coverage for the blown tire from the recent MH purchase, but in the confusion did not call them until after the fact (reimbursement refused). An expensive $600 lesson.

Roadside service through Progressive. They were fast and got us back on our way!

No damage, but could see the where the tire slapped the underside of the coach.

We were on highway going 50-ish when it happened. Slight tug in that direction, pulled over after letting off accelerator without using brakes. Lucky to be in a good spot to wait and for service to do their thing!

Good Sam. Took five and a half hours, couldn't find a tire that size.

No. Lots of vibration and a slight pull to the right.

Minor. Rubber marks down the side and some pulled out electrical wires.

We were cruising at 60. Everything was under control, did not speed up....more speed was not necessary, and could have done more harm. Tapped the cruise off and coasted to the side of the road.

Get a good TPMS and install it. DO NOT hit the brakes if a tire fails, especially on the front. You may have to accelerate to keep control of the vehicle. Once you have control of the vehicle, gradually slow and pull off the road and stop. Most tire companies recommend replacing the tires after 7 years of age. An alternative is to have the tires inspected every year after that for damage or potential failure. The inspection MUST be done on DISMOUNTED tires. I replace mine after 6 years, just because...YMMV...Dennis

Inside side wall. Reason not known but looked like a road hazard of sorts.
No other damage
Sounded like a shotgun blast and wasn't even sure what had happened.
Coach didn't waver at all.
Coach Net called tire service.
They were an hour or two, being really busy
Had them replace both tags with Hankooks at a very reasonable price.
Moved the other to the spare compartment and had them discard an original that had been kept there.
Told by a cop that companies were under contract with that highway in that area, so no rip offs were tolerated.

Yep, fully loaded pulling up a long grade, being passed by Semi in left side. Right rear inside dual lost tread and exploded.

Excellent service from roadside truck. 3 hours and on the road back home. Well worth the cash tip I gave the driver.
Extensive damage inside wheel well and adjacent tire. Right side damage from touching guard rail required repair and painting.

Rubber debris only. Used the 1 1/2 hour wait to use rubbing compound to clean it then waxed that side of the coach.
