headlight replacement

The right side lens has water/moisture on inside. Can anyone tell me what lens/system is used on a 1998 Country Coach Allure?

Most systems are from older cars/trucks. If I can find what system/car lens they used, I may be able to find a replacement for it on the internet.

Thanks,

  • Try RockAuto we bought a set for our 99 deville that had the foggyness on the outside of the lenses. We tried everything from soup to nuts including a razor blade to try and scrap the junk off with little to no luck. The dealership wanted 3-400 buck ea. and RockAuto had them for under 100 bucks ea. The whole assembly including cornering lenses came with it. Not only a huge difference driving @ night but the front end of the car looks kinda new again.
  • Half a dozen heads are always better than one.

RE-TE: Drilling the hole, I've done it before, probably 30-40 years ago. Woke me up though. I've forgotten about that idea.

LAR'S: I'll check on Ford's. It even looks like an older Ford light.

I got this Country Coach about a month ago. The headlights look fried. I bought the 3M System, but I think I will go for a new lens and a stronger bulb if I can find a fit. Also, replacing the back-up 5-1/2 inch with a 7 inch color. Took out the head banger tv, replacing it with a 32 inch. It was easy to take out the cabinet. Only 22 screws and glued tight. They really built the Country Coach.

Oh yes, I need a side hinged mounting bracket. Anyone know a place to look?

    Thanks,

  • Just replaced mine from a deer crash, it was a 2000 Ford Explorer. Mine's an 04 though.
  • Had the same problem on my 2001 Mountain Aire, the tech drilled a small hole in the bottom of ligh fixture, wala no more moisture.
Seems they are sealed too tigh cannot get air in.
Good luck, no more than an 1/8 inch hold.

Check your lights and see if the "bulb" assembly comes loose from the rear of the light/lens itself. Some rotate 90 degrees and pop out. If it does, you may just be able to pull out the light bulb, dry the headlight inside and replace the bulb. There may be a bad gasket on the bulb assembly that can be changed when the bulb is removed.
  • As you said, most of the MH lights originated on other vehicles. If no one can tell you which one yours came from, I'd take a couple of good pictures and go visit the local junk yards to show them the pictures. They should be able to identify it and might even have one.

  • Go out and look for a DOT number on the lens or reflector. Then do a google search for that number. Should point you in the right direction.
