- dreamerExplorerThis was our first year at Quartzsite and we loved it. We were traveling with 4 other couples and had a blast. We stayed an month at the La Posa BLM 14 day area south (east) of town. The weather was absolutely perfect except for two days, one day it rained and one day it was windy. Enjoyed shopping at the big tent and around town at different vendors. We met some local folks that guided us on an ATV tour of the desert/mountains that we would have never seen without local knowledge. I think I will invest in some solar after this trip we are planning on returning. The desert night sky is worth the trip in itself, and the full moon rising over the mountains was great? I had heard you will either love it or hate it and we loved it!
- SCVJeffExplorerThis is our 8th year camped out on Plomosa Rd. and IMO there were way more folks out there as well as crowd in town and in the tent area than in recent years. The vendors I talked to also said they had more business than in recent years.
- jhilleyExplorerThis is our 9th year. We were in the 14 day dispersed camping on Plamosa Road. Many more RVs there than in past years.
- Passin_ThruExplorerBoomers don't have time for upscale camping even. Too busy texting. Good to see CGs with lighter traffic.
- RicJonesExplorerWe have been going for over 10 years and stay at Roadrunner.
I thought there were fewer vendors, less people shopping, but more people camping.
It seems like those that have been going for some time shop less, either they already have what they are selling, or don't need it.
Though, it doesn't keep DW from finding that special something. - Not_a_ClueExplorerWe went again this year, fourth year, I think. We always stay at Rice Ranch FHU, right next to Hwy 95. I like to sit and watch traffic. All kinds of different Rigs.......Also can walk to the Big Tent.
We started going to the Big Tent after lunch this year and it seems to be less people than getting there mid morning. Much better. Nothing much new this year but we like to people watch.....there is always something new there.....
Going back again next year. - Frosty_s_MomExplorermanaged to get in one visit the last day of the event. didn't do the overnight thing--we are snowbirds out of yuma. my DH enjoys the rocks so we did Gem World--love it. Visited the big tent and found vendors in a hurry to pack up and split. got a real bargain on some cleaner, threw in a 2nd bottle, the scrub brush, brush handle, microfiber cloths, and a couple other things he didn't want to pack. i wanted to see the RV's, but time was tight and visited only la mesa and the units at the big tent (paul evert?). they are into upper level new and DP'ers and those 2015 brands were way out of our reach. still, had a great time and want to go again; hopefully when we have more time!
- supercubExplorerSorry to hear that J-Rooster.........hope you're doing better.
This is the second time I've been there, the first was about 4 years ago. I camped on the BLM land just sound of the big tent. No hookups but they have water and a dump........I didn't use either. Cost was $40 and was good for I believe 2 weeks. I could easily walk to the big tent and other vedors from where I was parked, so no trouble looking for a parking spot. I was there for 3 days. Looking out across the desert it did seem them were fewer RV's there. The big tent still was very crowded the couple times I visited.........although I heard some vendors say they thought the crowds were down a little. I heard one of the major vendors there say they had the best year ever. Will I go again.....probably so, the desert is beautiful in it's own way. The weather was great when I was there, I did hear they had one day of very strong winds though. - J-RoosterExplorerI couldn't make it Brian due to health reasons! First time I missed the Q in quite awhile!
- AcampingwewillgExplorer IIInteresting about Rice Ranch....like you have noted, full hook-ups at Rice are fairly reasonable too. WE stayed at the "now" KOA in Salome only because it is part of Thousand Trails and its free(not free in the real world) but no cost to stay. Hook-ups are nice, no doubt and I haven't experimented enough with the Residential Reefer to know how it would go boon-docking....maybe after I get some Solar I'll give it a go again.
