Keeping food from shifting

We had our Georgetown 378TS delivered one week ago and we went to a state park with some friends this past weekend. First time out with a full size refrigerator.

Of course we made the mistake of just opening the refrigerator when we got there. At least the bottle that fell out was plastic so it did not cause a problem.

How do you keep the food in your refrigerators from shifting around during travel?

LOL, we do know the difference between a fifth wheel and a Class A, we just haven’t updated our profile yet!

We got some small plastic boxes that we put food in. Some are 6 x 6 and some are a bit larger. Good variety can be found nearly anywhere. At most the items will shift in the box, but the boxes won't fall out when you open the fridge door.

    This is what we do.
  • Learn from your experience. We have all done that at least once. Care in opening the door for the first time, after each trip, is always an adventure. We pack as securely as possible, but things happen...we try to keep breakables in the door as much as possible. Pickle juice gets everywhere when the jar breaks!!! Any device you can use will help to minimize calamities along the way! good luck
  • our Dometic fridge has things on the front of the shelves that you pull up and they keep items from falling off the front of the shelf. Or you can get the things shown above in the other posts. You can also purchase refrigerator clear plastic organizers at Walmart in the storage or kitchen areas.

  • I put the food in the fridge and than pack soft drinks or bottled water in the fridge around the food items so they can't shift. My fridge also has built in bars to keep the food from sliding off the front of the shelf.

    This works great for us:

You can get them at Camping World or PPL, or probably on Amazon or other sales outlet with a simple search of refrigerator retaining bar.

X2 We also have a shorter set for the shelves of the medicine cabinet.

  • I usually put a lot of items on the same shelf to minimize shifting. I also have a couple of spring rods that can be put inside to keep thins from moving.
