Kwikee 32 Series(Again)

I have the good old Kwikee 32 Series steps on my MH. Sometime the steps work great than at times they will not go out. Never had a problem with them retracting. It is always, when they decide not to work, it is when trying to extend. I am trying to replace the motor. Been to Autozone order some window motors without luck. Did not match up, all ended up have a round shaft without the flats on them, like the unit I have. My question are all the step motors the same on the Kwikee Series 32 Steps? Or are they different by the year made? Any one have input on these? My next step is to take the motor assembly apart and see what I come up with.
  • Hi. I had the same problem & did the 'Hit it with a rubber mallet' trick for 3 years. I finally replaced the motor. Look for a left front window motor for a 1986-1995 Ford Taurus. Also, look at the NAPA part # BK655-1395 or Dorman # 742-205 0r 206. You may also want to read the old posts from a guy called OZARKWOODS.

I tried Autozone with P/N 742-277 that someone posted as 1986 Ford Taurus driver side unit. It did not match mine. The gear shaft was round without the flat side that mine has and smaller dia. shaft. Did you have to modify anything or was it a bolt-on. Thanks Gary
  • I was also having a problem pulled all the wire connections apart and cleaned up the ground wire connection all work the right way now.
  • This is part number I used at Auto Zone take yours in and they can match it with one of these.

    Dorman # 742-205 or 206

Dose it look like one of these. http://www.amequipment.com/ame-products/utility-gearhead-motors/

Yes right now I will have to check out the 214-1001 motor for the spec to compare them. Looks like I will be going this was if everything checks out. My motor has the flats on the output shaft. The motors at Autozone where smaller shafts and did not have the flats on the shafts. Thank Gary
