labor cost of Cummins ISL replacement

Why would you take a chance on a used engine when you could get a Cummins Re-man with warranty? Why is the existing engine not re-buildable?

Seems things always come out or apart much easier and faster than going back together

I would add at least one day for :h and one for :S

Remember too, the OP is in Canada...rates may differ....I would guess closer to 20-25 hrs labor, more if you want it done right.......Dennis

The electronics that operate these engines might be a big point also. remember these engines are not like gas powered units.

Since I have an ISL 400, I'm curious what happened that it needs a new engine?
I would guess about $2000 to $2500 too, but have no facts to verify that amount.

It's always hard to know an exact price because of different labor rates. I'm guessing 12-15 hours labor. Lots of hoses and systems to disconnect. Again, just a guess, $2000 - $2500.
