I explained to the seller when I bought my coach that I had never driven a motorhome. He would not allow me to drive it but he did drive it to an inspection facility so I could have the chassis inspected and then later that day drove it to a different location to have the house portion inspected with me in the passenger seat. I understood his concern about me driving it and I was more than satisfied that he took the time to drive it to both the inspections. However without the inspections I would not have bought it. The chassis inspection found a few things wrong and the seller paid to have them fixed.
It's OK for seller to drive, If you prefer not to. But If I am buying I want to take it for a test drive. That would be a deal breaking issue for me. - Blossom18ExplorerWell we've decided we're not going to deal with this seller. We've proven to him we have the money for him we were willing to give what he wanted but they both just put up too many road blocks for us. It's just way too complicated to deal with them.
- ricklord2001ExplorerI agree with the driving comments and forget it without that. But I will say it's always been up to the buyer to get the inspection done and certified in my experience. Then you negotiate about the expense of the fixes. Just my experience but you can ask for anything.

Safety is a inspection certificate when you buy a vehicle here. It gets a going over by a mechanic that it's in good working order. Because he says it's up to us to do that then we're the ones who have to pay for anything the mechanic finds wrong with it plus pay for the inspection certificate
If he pays for it, then he has to fix anything wrong with it for us.
If this is true, I don't think I'd buy a MH in that state. It sounds like a (legal) scam for inspectors to find every little thing wrong that they possibly can to generate repair revenue.
If this is like a house inspection done before purchase, things, unless a safety violation, do not have to be repaired, they become part of the price negotiations. A lot of people think everything on a house inspection has to be repaired by the seller. Let's say a thermo pane window has lost its seal and is cloudy. This is not a safety item and the seller does not have to repair it if they don't want to.
I would check out what he's telling you a little closer.

- Dance_ChickExplorerYou need to kick him to the curb and find someone who really wants to sell his rig. He sounds like a major PITA. Too many others out there for sale.

what do you mean by "he isn't going to safety it for us"? Not familiar with that term.
X2. Not familiar with the term, sounds like some sort of warranty? - 2chiefsRusExplorerwhat do you mean by "he isn't going to safety it for us"? Not familiar with that term.
- LwiddisExplorer IIBlossom, YOU need to test drive it and take a turn driving at least weekly. Hubby has a medical issue shouldn’t be your first or second time at the wheel.
