Looking for Fishing Pole Storage Soulutions

I am trying to figure out the best way to store my fishing rods while keeping the reels on. I was going try some wide Velcro strips across the underside(top) of the long section of one of basement compartments. But even after cleaning with alcohol i cant get it to stick(self adhesive back) Would it be a bad idea to drill holes or use self tapping screws in the top of the basement?

  • I used sections of 2 inch PVC screwed into the top of the long slide compartments tailored to five specific rod and reel combinations. Can't post a picture now as the RV is in storage. Each section is about 6 in with pilot holes drilled in the middle of each section. That allows them to move sideways to fit the rod tip and handles through.
  • I use 4" pvc pipe mounted to the top of the storage area with metal straps. Each will hold 3 or 4 rods up to the reel which sticks out the end. Works really well. Sorry no pics, tt is in hibernation.
  • Fleetwood couple,
Well Sir, take a look at what I did. I've kind of, specialized in "compartmentation". I did it as an overtime assignment while being a fireman for 30 years. We'd accept new fire trucks and, it was my job to outfit them and prepare them for service. Anyway, that spilled over into my private life. On the handle end is a spring loaded "clamp" that captures the handle. On the other end, is a small loop that the tip or, close to the tip just sits in. Both are mounted via screws to the back wall of the compartment. Take a look and see what you think.

  • I believe the top of your storage area is plywood. Most likely 3/8". I think you'd be okay with a short screw.
