- tdebbieExplorerHad ours done in OKC Workhorse dealer on Friday. Got 4 miles from the workhorse dealer and we lost the brakes and then the transmission. We safely got to the side of I44 (don't know how) in OKC and policeman screaming get out of the motorhome for it was on fire. We had no problems before the recall now we have no motorhome. Fire inspector said fire started at the brakes. So please be careful with the recall.
Voyage '05 Winn. - Paul_TurpinExplorerThey replace the four calipers under the recall, I did not want to try and get Workhorse to pay, from what I hear, it is a long road and most of the time Workhorse decline to pay. I wanted to get in, get it done and get out on the road. I would have to prove that the heating of the rear brakes was the caliper and not my driving.
If you go to a Workhorse RECALL service center, you can check on the Workhorse web site, they give a discount on the parts. I had all four wheels done, four calipers, new brake pads, new rotors, all four wheel seals, front axle caps, the brake fluid system flushed, engine oil and filter changed, chassis lubed for $1609. $750 parts and $760 labor and the rest in tax and shop supplies.

Just got my Pace back from the brake recall, had the complete brake job done. The rear brakes showed signs of over heating so I am happy I had this done before I did the mountains on I-8 going on my trip to San Diego.
The speaker covers pop right out, thanks for the info.

Paul,
Did they do the rear brakes as part of the recall too? I'm scheduled for next week to take mine in for the recall.

My 2004 Pace Arrow, 37C has a problem with the water heater. It works fine on propane, but not on electric. I had the switches checked and they are working. It was suggested that the heating element went bad. Do I have to pull the whole unit out to check the heating element?

Mel,
I am not at my 37C Pace right now, but last year I was under the pace working on it and I saw this trap door right under the water heater. There was a few screws holding it up. I took the screws out and the door opened up to the back of the water heater. I looked around in there and I believe there was wiring and the electric heating element back there.
Paul
Mel, While you have the trap door open check the water hoses for chaffing. I had to install some anti-chaffing hose on mine as they were starting to show signs of chaffing.

More problems on my 2004 Pace Arrow, 37C. I haven't even checked the water heater suggestions and find my generator has varnish troubles. I was quoted $350+ to replace the carburetor and new fuel filter that is an upgrade along with the carb. Can I replace it myself? Can I clean the carb with a spray? Do I add a cleaner to the gas tank?
Please advise,
Mel
Mell, I have had very good luck disolving varnish on outboard motor carbs with Berryman's. If you can get it off, fill it full and let it soak for a couple of days. It helps to remove the jets but make sure you count the turns when you remove the screw or you will have additional problems! If you cana't remove it but can spray Berryman's into the carb that will sometimes help also. I wouldn't worry about the small amount that could drain into the tank as a few ounces of Berryman's won't hurt the big engine. If the generator will run at all yo can spray it directly into the air intake of the carb.

First, I would not add cleaner to the gas tank, remember that gas also goes to your engine (just my feelings on this). I replaced all of fuel filters to the generator, there are two and the fuel line( it was cracking). Look at the carburetor and see if you think you are able to do it. When I was in there last year it did not look like a big deal. Just check to see what the cost would be for the carb and filter, if it not a big savings then let them do it.
Paul - seatecExplorerhello everyone,
When my 2006 37c was in storage one of the sky lights (above kitchen)cracked and water seeped in. Long story short. i had some water damage to the head liner and after drying up it shrunk and is no longer wide enough to be tucked under the plastic strips that run across the roof hiding the seams of the head liner. is it hard to replace the head liner and has anybody ever done this to their coach? i presume i can just buy a roll of the head liner directly from fleewood.

Mel - ParrotguyExplorerThe speaker covers are held in by Velcro, but the Velcro holds pretty tightly and so you have to be careful to use a tool that will not mess up the wood. If you use a screwdriver and press sideways it gauges the wood. Use a thin tool and/or put something under the tool to protect the wood.
If you are going to replace the speakers that's a problem. I did it and the wood piece holding the speaker is attached from the front. Its a bear to get it out. If I remember I had to destroy the wood bracket and put in a new piece.
