Looking for weight info on Winnebago View or Navion

I am looking to switch to a "C" from my truck camper. As age creeps up on my wife and I we are looking at making the switch to eliminate all the steps getting into the rig. As we age our balance isn't what it was when we were younger. Also if something should happen to me se would still use the little MH to travel without me which she wouldn't with the truck camper.

So that is the reason we are looking at switching.

I have been searching on here and haven't found the answer. Has anyone weighed their View or the Navion empty before adding anything to it. I would like to know how much cargo capacity they have or are they almost overweight empty before putting anything in them. I now it will also depend on how much extra options you add to it.

I will be pulling a small enclosed all aluminum trailer at times to haul the Harley trike with a max weight of 3000# and a flat bed aluminum trailer with the ATV weight on it would be only 1500#. Also flat towing a Subaru that weighs a little over 3000#.

Second question is are they prepped for a brake control or do I need to pull wires from the front to the rear as my small trailers have electric brakes on it so need to know if they are prepped.

Thanks in advance,

Butch

A 24' Lazy Daze has a OCCC of almost 3,200#.
A very high quality Class C.

    Lazy Daze

And I guess I have to ask how does this help me with my quest of a Sprinter chassis OCCC. Thanks for you helpful suggestion. I know of Lazy Daze but that is not what I'm interested in. Thank you
  • Thanks for the replies. I check out the yahoo group.

I figured that the capacity wouldn't be that big but as stated above coming from a truck camper we are use to not having a lot of storage anyway and I plan on pulling the enclosed trailer so that gives me a little more storage.

    Hope that helps!

That's me. My 2011 has 1475 OCCC. Different versions will vary of course and options will also change it.

From about 2009 on there will be a sticker in the door frame indicating the OCCC (cargo capacity) number (federal law). Dry weight varies with model.

The View/Vavion have got bigger (again) in 2-15 but this time not with the addition of gross vehicle weight. They have lost a bit of OCCC (like about 200 lbs on the J).

If you are coming from a truck camper you should have no problems with storage in a View/Navion.

I pull a 3000 lb toad with a RViBrake system....also a utility triler with no brakes (1500 lbs or so). The newer V/Ns have 5000 lb towing capacity but when you have the RV at max gross weight you will be down to 4000 due to the combined weight rating.

They are not wired for brake controllers.

The best repository for View Navion knowledge is Here
  • The dry weight on the View/Navion is right at 9800 lbs. They are known for not having much cargo capacity. (11030 is max gvw)
2009 on up come with a 5k towing capacity/with hitch, prior had 3k. No they are not setup for brake control.

A better place to find more out is the View/Navion groups over on Yahoo. Thousands of members there.

(we owned a 2009 Navion for 3 years)
