magne sun shades

Does anyone have any experience with the Magne windshield and side window sun shades?

I am considering purchasing one of their new products called the flip shade. It is an interior shade for passenger and driver windows. Plus a sun shade for the front window. The front window shade is only used when stopped but the interior flip shade can be used while moving.

It appears that the shades are held in place with magnets.

My concern is besides being REALLY pricey I'm wondering if the shades are even necessary.

Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  • I really like the idea of the Magna shades but my budget just wouldn't support the price. I made my own using material I ordered from Home Depot and magnets from an Amazon Retailer. Cost me about $100. Haven't made side window shades, yet. Maybe my winter project.

The windshield screen works really well. Takes a few seconds to install and cuts the sun and associated heat load entering the coach. During the day with the curtains open you can't see anything inside the coach from the outside. Night time not so much so I still pull the curtains.

Magna Shade has a bunch of You-Tube videos concerning magnet installation, installing and removing the shade and such.
  • Cbones,
The door shade you mention, are magnets are permanently attached to the outside of your coach window? Or, are they on the inside like the front shade?

According to the installation video when putting up the side window shades, no mention of the door window shade was made, the stationary/permanent magnets have to be attached to the outside. I'm not quite sure why though.

On the front screen the permanent magnets are on the inside so they, to my thinking, would not look like large glops of bird poop, right? Yet, if they, like the side window permanent magnets, are on the outside of the coach wouldn't that look kind of odd?

The video for the flip shade really is un-informative on how the shades attach. Only that they are new and hang on the inside.

I agree that so far the customer service has been exceptional from the folks at Magne.

Is your front window screen a solid color or did you opt for a picture?

    Thanks for the insight.

I looked at their website awhile back and contacted them via phone and email regarding a shade for my windshield. They said they didn't know if the ones they had would fit a 2013, but it would fit a 2012 , I asked them to call the coach manufacturer to see if the dimensions had changed from 2012..... they'd said they would get back to me.... that was 2 months ago... never heard from them.
Based on that lack of response, I'll go with Prompt Shades... I've had good service from them on our old coach and they go up easy. They are much more reasonably priced than the Magne Shades.

Wow! I feel that the CS from Magne shade is superb. First off the owner, Roger, puts his cell # on the website. When I first ordered my shades, they will ask for detailed measurements if they don't already have your coach on file. Additionally, if they do, they will ask you to confirm the measurements that they have on file. Roger has always answered his phone and answered any installation issues that I had. I have the front shade and door shade only as I have the MCD shade on the driver window. The shades go on in about 15 secs. You literally just use a rod and bring the shade close to the top front edge of the window. The magnets are strong enough to suck the shade into place. I then just tug the lower corners a little to pull the shade taught. The door shade just pops right into place in literally a second. There is no need to get up on a ladder. I haven't do e any real world tests, but I feel covering the outside of the window is better than covering from inside as far as keeping the coach cooler. I can only make that comment from anecdotal evidence that the windshield and door window areas are cooler than the driver side area where I use the MCD day shade. As you can tell I am very happy with the product. It is definitely more expensive than other systems, which Roger says is mainly due to the cost of the rare earth magnets, but the simplicity and ease of putting them up makes it all worthwhile for me.
