Magnum inverter/charger not charging batteries

I am plugged into 10A A/C outlet with adapters to the 50A shore cord and not getting any charge to batteries. The transfer switch lights red when I plug in the 10A cord, but no power to the inverter. Do I need to have the Magnum inverter button "on" to charge?? Is there something I am missing, worried the batteries will freeze here with temps in the single digits. Thx! Jeff
  • what size and how long is the cord are you running from your 10amp outlet?
  • My Magnum has two buttons, one labeled Charger and the other label Inverter.

It will not charge without the Charge button being on. If shore power is available and the charger off, the charge light will be blinking.

Does this sound like your setup?
  • No, I only have once button on/off for inverter. And a green light when the inverter is on, and 2nd light for Fault.
  • Mr. Jeff,

Can you post a picture of your inverter read-out inside the motorhome?

If you have the same type controller inside like we had, when you select '20 amp' showing on the read-out, you have to PUSH the round button to select it that you rotated to get to 20 amp.

    MM.
  • My selections are 5, 15, 30 and 50A and I have tried them all. The system worked fine when camping at a 50A pedestal, so thinking my input A/C must be not to the systems liking? Praying I dont have frozen batteries in the AM, it is going down to 5 deg tonite.
  • If your batteries are only a few years old, they'll be fine. The acid prevents freezing. If you're not living in the RV, just disconnect their ground wires. You've got plenty of time to work on the converter issue.
  • Figured it out, I used a heavier ext cord to plug into 10A plug, so the voltage drop must have been too much with the lighter cord. Glad I am now charging in this frigid weather, thanks all!!
