Michelin LTX M/S Replacement

It seems I picked a wrong time to replace The Michelin LTX M/S Tires.
Since they are the original 08 Tires that fall before the recall.
So far I have found Dunlap Rover's and BF Goodrich Commercial T/A.
Anyone have experience with either of these Tire Choices, also any other Tires I should be looking at.

Thanks!
  • Check out the Goodyear Adventure, with Kevlar side walls. From the reviews it looks just as good as the LTX M/S2. I believe they make them in E range.
I have decided to go with the Adventure on our Pathfinder.

  • Take a look at firestone tires. I had a bad experience with Goodyear tires and will never have them again. We put 6 new firestones on our class c and really like them.(trans force RT's)
  • Larry If they are seven years old as you say and the sidewalls are cracked I would replace them. I don't go beyond six years with mine. Any brand tire in the sun for that long could be a problem. Even just sitting kills tires over time.
  • The Tires are dated 07 and appear to have side wall cracks.
I was told that if my finger nail can fit into the crack then they need to be replaced. I'll have to go back to my storage facility to see how deep the cracks actually are.
  • We are down in SW Florida for another month and would like to get the recalled tires replaced before heading back to Minnesota but no one around here has any Michelin recall replacements. They are trying to get me to go with a BF commercial or a Uniroyal 80288. Anyone familiar with those tires? I know Michelin owns both of those but I don't want to get stuck with inferior tires just because the MS2 or the XPS Rib are out of stock. These are for our class "C" not the class "A".
  • Have your sidewalls actually cracked or do they look OK?
Unless they are cracked I would use them until the new ones came in. Just don't overload them and maintain the proper pressure for the weight. Michelin reported 200 failures out of 150,000,000 tires. Thats like less than .000001% I doubt any other brands are any better. Of course Michelin would say don't use them just to protect their backside.

I've ordered mine to replace my four year old set but I will not to worry and not use them until the new ones come in. After all, they've been fine for four years, I don't think a few weeks will make any difference.
  • Michelin's are on back order because of the recall.
I'm going on a trip at the end of next week and would like to replace the Tires before I leave because of the sidewall cracking.

  • I just had mine replaced. They replaced them with B.F. Goodrich, which the tire store said are also made by Michelin
  • It's good you are looking at different tires. I bought my Michelins 3 years ago. Last year I noticed cracking on the side wall, so I went back to Costco. They said it wasn't bad enough yet. The tire DOT date is (0911), 9th week of 2011. This year it has gotten to the point I don't feel they are safe. I have been told by Michelin that tire cracking is not covered by warranty. It needs to separate or rapid deflate, (blowout) to be covered. My tire size is 2 sizes larger than the recall tires, so I don't qualify under recall. I will be trying Cooper tires from America tire store. No more Michelins for me.
  • Why change brands after years...seems like the Michelin's served you well...I have the Michelin LTX AT/2 on everything I own, that it fits. Best tire I have ever used.
