- happy-2ExplorerI quit using michelin tires, about 6 years ago, we switched to TOYO Tires and have nothing but good luck with them.well keep on using them. plus the price is about 1/3 that of michelin.
- 23hotrodrExplorerSorry I wasn't clear-
I was referring to the XRV tires. Have them on the new to us 2007 Sun Cruiser. Only 17,000 original miles and look in good shape, but definitely have concerns from reading other threads on the Michelin XRV tires.
Just wondering how concerned I should be and if and when Michelin solved the problem.-- Mick - Francesca_KnowlExplorer

Do you have Michelins on the motorhome, and if so are they the XRV's?
What years did Michelin have the sidewall "zipper effect" problem?
If they solved the problem, what year was it solved?
Thanks-- Mick
I ask because I've been following a thread elsewhere in which someone with I THINK 2010 XRV's just got some coverage from Michelin. Not a classic zipper blowout case since the O.P. there freely admits that the air never got checked unless such a service was available for free. Cause there seems to be a stuck valve/slow leak that went undetected for several weeks, after which the O.P. drove it flat. But Michelin paid off 80% anyway. - darsbenExplorer IIop has a
2007 Itasca Sun Cruiser 35L
Workhorse W24 chassis
8.1L Chevy engine
6 speed Allison transmission - ScottGNomadIt's really a shame. I used to buy them for everything but I'm done with them until I can be sure this widespread problem is corrected. I've heard that even their bicycle tires are afflicted.

Are we talking about rv tires? In this class A forum.?
Good question, looks like it's about truck tires which has no relationship to a MH tire. - mike_brezExplorerI thought the XRV were the problem ones?

I would be surprised if they ever get it right. I've had four sets of M/S michelins on my truck. The first set...that I used to take OFF roading...never a problem. The second and third set blew out...the front passenger side caused me to collide with a guardrail. The third set blew out the rear passenger side and merely destroyed the fender well of the vehicle, and collapsed the exhaust. I sent that one into Michelin...they said it was a Road Hazard. (B/s). I'm now trying M/S2's. ..,but I'll probably hunt for a better manufacturer next time.
Off roading tends to tear up tires - this does not mean there is a problem with them.
