Monaco Trim Levels

Those with a build date starting around 9 or 10/2008 till they quit building and then after Navistar bought them, they just sold those that were setting in the yard as a Navistar coach, but were really left over Monaco's. Not all in that time frame were problem RVs, but a good number were. The ones that were actually built by Navistar had a blue(?) decal by the entry door signifying a Navistar built coach.

This is another great topic for info... like mtofell1 says, there is a lot to learn. I would like to learn about the Monaco line as well. I have heard that Monaco had some problems during a certain time period. I want to find out when that was so If and when we are loking at a Monaco that we don't pick up one of the problem units.

Our 2005 HR Endeavor 40PRQ(Monaco Diplomat) stickered at $248,000. It is the only model that had a N/S bed with 4 slides.

Our 2003 Camelot according to the window sticker was $248,000 when new. It did have a number of options added.
If you look at a Monaco, call the support center with the VIN # and they will email you the Build sheet (all major equipment, model #'s and serial #'s) and the window sticker if they have them.
Kind of cool to see what it came with, when you are looking.

03 was the first year that some SIG and probably the EXE had 4 sldes and 04 was the first year for the Dynasty. These three are all steel frame semi-mono-coupe on the RR10S chassis. Prevost/Newell/Foretravel all use a 10 airbag chassis but at a much higher cost. The SIG and Exe are 500+ HP and the Dynasty is the Cummins ISL 400 HP. The RR10S is noted for it's excellent handling and 9000+ lbs of CCC, but they tend to be heavy on the front axle. Around 06-07 Monaco started to move the fuel tank back from just behind the front axle.

I've owned my Dynasty since almost new and plan on using it for another 11+ years. If I had to replace it, I would try and find a 06-07 EXE with the Detroit 60 engine. I'm on the heavy side (45K lbs combined) and while I'm happy with my ISL 99% of the time, a little more HP would be nice. The barn doors on the basement came out in 06 and make it a little easier to get things out. Around 06 the SIG had a higher roof which would be nice if your are over 6'4" tall.
The more you learn and the more you keep up with prices you will know what's a bargain when you decide to buy. Good Luck

thanks everyone..... I'll take all the info I can get. I'm realistically years off from justifying a DP but am really enjoying learning. So far I really like the Monaco coaches. I like how many there are so I have a better chance of finding just what I'm looking for.

Other brands that catch my eye are Newell and Beaver. From my research and instinct I think I'm likely to go with an older coach of better quality at a given price point than something new/newer.

It's actually pretty exciting to see all the improvements of the last 10 years and how affordable (relatively, of course) a really nice coach is becoming. The 3 or 4 slides, aqua hot systems and high HP/torque engines are trickling down to a price point that couldn't be dreamed of 5-10 years ago it seems.

The MSRP on my coach was $583,877.34 if that helps....The luxury coaches were Signature, Executive and Dynasty. They dropped the Executive in 2009, I think and elevated the Camelot to the Dynasty level and the Dynasty to the Executive level. For 2015 and 2016 they only made the Dynasty. Luxury coaches came with a steel cage where the ones lower on the food chain did not. Hope this helps....Dennis

"mtofell1".....2005 and on the Diplomat came with an ISL and exhaust brake. The Camelot came with the ISL and engine brake. The Dynasty came with an ISL and engine brake, but there were some special order ISM's available. The Executive and Signature came with big boy motors.
