They may look OK but clean them anyway. A friend of mine was at his wits end telling me of an intermittent problem with starting his van. He was ready to replace an expensive battery harness, i asked him how long had it been since he cleaned the battery cables. His reply was 2 years ago when he replaced the battery but the terminal looked ok. I said to clean them anyway. He did and that was over a month ago and no more problem.
