- obgrahamExplorerI can't see how it ever makes financial sense to sell off a rig that is in good working order in favor of a newer one.
That said, there's plenty of non-financial reasons. If it doesn't do what you want, or you like newer stuff, go for it.
I've also found that there is little difference in trade-in or used sale price between an "averagely" used rig and an exceptionally well cared for one. Heck, when I traded, the dealer worked his price strictly from the books, never having seen the vehicle. - OasisbobExplorerYour rig is barely broke in. You know it and how it has been cared for. I do not see how you could be money ahead buying a new unit.Even if something major was to go wrong you would still be money ahead to keep it. Just my opinion. Happy Trails
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerSteveP, I would say 'it depends'. Generally, it's harder to get financing on 10+ yr. old units (from what I've heard, don't know from experience).
So, since we like to buy new, it was in the back of my mind to sell our previous 2008 coach before the 10 yr. mark. That way, I feel that we were able to ask a stronger price because ours was in good condition and financing would be available if the new purchaser wanted to go that route.
If all that would be interested are cash buyers, the group would be way smaller.
MM. - IvylogExplorer IIILike the above post I do not see anything in a new one that I do not have. Four slides, AquaHot, Girrard awning, tag axle..... See no reason it will not go another ten+ years.
- Shot-N-AzExplorerMine is also a 2005. I intend to keep it as long as I can drive it and I'm 58 yr old.
Each year I look at the new ones. Other than cosmetics, I don't see anything that compels me to get something newer, and I can afford to do so.
