There are various models of powered shades for the windshields
1. They will go up and down regardless of the KEY On or OFF
2. They will go up and down if they are wired to the ignition
3. They will NOT go down if the key is ON, but will go up
4. They can be programmed(MCD has these) where the DOWN can be limited when the Igntion is ON. Ignition OFF and they will go all the way down. The limit down for ignition ON is set where you can NEVER block the safe vision of the driver
5. Limiting the DOWN on the shades or requiring Ignition to be OFF is a BIG safety concern. You do not want the system to malfunction while driving and have the shade completely block off the windshield. Doug
