Muffin fans- fridge issues- blew a fuse

Finally getting around to installing the fans I had ordered from ALLELECTRONICS.
Things going good just up and down the ladder more times then not;)

Ran the wires down from the top and tested to make sure all worked properly. Did this a few times and went and had lunch. Came back and decided to clean up the wiring a bit but..... forgot to turn the juice off. Blew a fuse to the fridge which apparently also controls some overhead lighting on the fridge side.

For the life of me I cannot find the fuse I blew. Knowing no one else ever does anything like this:S thought maybe someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Jim
  • I did the 4 fan setup last summer. I put a 100 degree snap switch in the wiring to allow fans to cycle as needed. My Dometic loves the fans in the flue
  • Got it!

I made an aluminum housing for mine. The picture shows two fans ea @ 60cfm. I went back to the drawing board and mounted four ea @ 130cfm. I made the housing out of a piece of 3/4 angle aluminum from Home Depot.
I then removed the plastic housing that covered the chimney and mounted the fan bracket inside the chimney itself. Reinstalled the plastic housing and the vent cover. My project over the winter will be to remove the covers and insulate the fan bracket....Dennis

  • Dennis, I tried to post a pic but can't get it to show up. What I did was remove the screen on top of the vent and mount the 4 fans to a piece of plywood with a cutout for the fans. Originaly I was going to mount them farther down in the vent but this looked simpler and just as efficient. After screwing the assembly down I ran a bead of caulk down the sides of the plywood to completely seal the top. Drilled a few holes in the plywood to allow venting from the lp when it runs.
I wired it to a switch I installed by the fridge so it can be controlled manually. When I flip it on and hold a paper towel next to the outside vent it holds it tight against the intake.
    I'm a happy camper:C
  • Before you finish mounting the fans, make sure you insulate them from the walls of the chimney. Otherwise you'll get some resonance inside the coach...I assume you mfg a channel for them to sit in....Dennis
  • Found it in a fuse panel at the bottom of the bed. Now I can finish the install of the cooling fans.
