Need B+ MPG, deciding between B & B+

Burl, it does gph. That's an interesting question. I'll try to remember to check next time I run it. On our recent dry camping trip, I measured the alternator as putting roughly twice the charge to the house battery as the generator powering the converter-charger. Testing done one right after the other, but only for a minute or less, so I don't know if the alternator would keep it up or not.

I meant Park, not Neutral (I never shift!)

How many amps does the alternator put out, and if chassis batt is charged fully, would more of the amps go to a drained house batt? Like electrical triage.

We have a 29ft, three slides, montclair, before towing, 12.6, towing-10.and finaly got 16on the clock. So not to bad. Now it's all -happy-camping

It is a beauty.

Gas mileage is great at those speeds.

I was happily surprised by the front swivel seats.

I would love this model w/o permanent rear bed and bedroom, because we do not have a toad and don't stay put. But if you stay in a spot for a while and want to do a lot of sightseeing, this is a beauty. It compares more favorably inside than a big Dynamax B+ we saw at the '06 Good Sam Daytona Rally.

I also ran into a guy w/ a similar Monaco Montclair. He traded a recently bought Allegro Class A for the MM because "unlike the A, the MM was a pleasure to drive."

We just acquired a 2013 Itasca Cambria 30C. Now I realize that this coach may be pushing the B+ boundaries, but it is actually classed as a B+. 32' with 3 slides on an E450 chassis. We flew up to Ohio and drove it back to Florida (1200 miles), we drove 65-70 and averaged 9.8 mpg. Not bad, but the comfort level was tremendous. We looked at the Sprinter chassis and class B models, but they were either more expensive for much less room and capacity or we just didn't like the Swiss Army Knife approach to multi-use amenities. This advice should be attributed to a much senior-to-me fellow RV looker probably 10 yrs ago while I was 'researching' in Lafayette, when we met up in a used 24' C on the sales lot. He simply stated with some personal savvy from a long RV life that "mais, 24 feet long,dat's all anybody needs."

Big difference in a B Van Conversion and a C (B+) to some. Weight and engine. Air resistance on the road.

5 cylinder Sprinters get better economy still if one is looking for used RVs.
