NOBODY on this forum was privy to the PM and subsequent phone conversation between the OP and 'newman fulltimer' therefore a lot of unnecessary speculation as to what was done, how it was done, what was found/not found etc.
Time for a new topic.........the logs have burned long enough on this one
Right. And I assume that if the OP is smart enough to boondock, pilot an RV, join a forum to discuss said boondocking and RVing, AND is able to take on his own repair as prescribed by Newman THEN one could also assume that he's smart enough to weigh the risks of implementing the repair.
People come here for help. While we all have good intentions in providing advice, it is solely the requester's obligation to evaluate the quality of the help and to determine what to do with it. I don't think anyone would contest that.
Newman offered a fix based on his experience. The OP took the advice and did what he wanted with it. Calling Newman out, or anyone else, regarding their credentials and/or questioning a conversation that no one else was privy to is counter productive and (in my opinion) detrimental to the spirit of the forum. Threads like this discourage people from helping others.
