Need help removing window treatment for blind repair

Hi,

We have day/night shade blind that has come unstrung on one side. We've found someone who can restring it, but we need to be able to remove the blind itself. Of course the RV has a beautiful valance...which we see no way of removing. The valance seems to be screwed AND glued. We can find all kinds of great instructions online for the restringing. Does anyone have any experience with removing the window treatment without damaging anything?

We have an '03 Fleetwood Revolution. The problem window is the big living room window on the passenger side. So far we have to leave the blind to our best window closed, which isn't very pleasant.

Thanks.
  • Yours may not be like mine....

My day/night shades has a screw just a few inches from either end. One may be in front of the shade, the other behind. I've seen them both ways.
Remove the two screws holding them up.
Then, there is a clip in the center. You have to twist the shade to unclip it.
    Hope this may help.
  • Beware... With a tinted window, it works for the day, but you can be seen from the outside at night.

  • I think DH took out the screws on one side to see if there was any give to it and it was still firmly stuck.

(We're considering replacing ALL of the blinds in the RV with simple pull down privacy blinds, since we find we never use the day shades anyway. The tinting in the windows cuts the incoming light sufficiently for our needs. But we're looking for the simplest thing first.).
  • My valiance was held in place with about 6 L shaped brackets - they weren't glued on but until I located all of them the valiance wouldn't budge.
  • If it is glued...then you probably are "screwed."
Luckily our valance was only screwed and I was able to remove it and then remove the blind.

    (big help, wasn't I....:S)
