Need more cooling

IF you have the quick cooling dump feature, I would suggest using that instead of the ducting. This drops alot of cool air where the oscillating fan can push it around. Insulation as stated by others is a must, especially the front cap and windshield.

Personally, getting on a ladder to install them is little effort for the comfort gained by using them.

Unless your added panels are REALLY tight against the windows, they just slow down the IR heating of the interior from the hot glass panel.....which will get at least twice as hot. To be really effective, the covering must be on the outside.

It sounds to me like you need to service and/or upgrade only the one unit as you have almost exhausted insulation upgrades.....but an exterior windshield cover might make a big difference.

Also.....trying to stop the heat on the INSIDE of the glass is pretty much ineffective; you need to stop it on the OUTSIDE to really do much. That includes an outside windshield cover.

That's my thought also. I had an exterior windshield cover made at a Auto upholstery shop that snaps on and it reallly helps block out the heat.

Another thing you can do during the day is pull the slides in. We were in Las Vagas for a couple days when it was 113 degrees. Pulled the slides in so there was less air to cool.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The most helpful one for our situation is to get an exterior windshield shade, and I'll be pursuing that. I'll also pursue an upgrade to 15K A/C.

Here's what our situation is relative to most of the other suggestions:
About awnings:
I asked about adding awnings over side windows, but my service people say that’s not possible for this unit. The passenger side has a large awning, and that helps a lot but not enough.

About foil-covered insulation:
I’ve cut Styrofoam panels for each side window and taped aluminum foil, shiny side out, to these panels. That helps, but not nearly enough.

About portable AC:
I doubt I could run a portable AC without tripping the shore power.

About interior fan to move cool air:
We’re doing that, and it does help, but not enough.

About closing ducts:
Bathroom ducts are from rear air, which is cooling the back very well.

About curtains/shades:
We have good sun-blocking shades on the windows, and we keep them closed with the Styrofoam sheets between the shades and the windows. Shades help, but not enough.

About A/C condition:
Both units seem to be blowing cold air. The rear unit cycles as I would expect. The front unit seems to cycle occasionally, but runs most of the time.

About roof vents:
We do have housing covers over our roof vents.

Those might be OK for long term stays but not too convenient for a day or two at a location.

What kind of sunshields did you get?

I carry Reflectix Insulation cut to fit all my windows. Use it more late fall early spring to keep the heat in. When not in use the panels are under the mattress or behind the sofa. Easy install and the fabric blinds hold them in place. Quickest and lowest cost fix with the bonus of using not only when hot but when the temps start to drop. I also have panels for the shower sky light and the roof vents which helps to darken the morning sun.

The windshield is the biggest offender of a hot MH.

They come right out to your site and install them. Everyone I talked to that had them installed said the same thing, "Why did I wait so long"!

Give it a bath (Epically clean the roof) made a big differnece on my Inruder

Block windows (Reflectx) Close blinds as well

Now; On my Inruder one of the Carrir Air V's died of manfucturing defect,, Of course Carrir no longer makes RV units so I replaced it with a Advent Air. (Just the upper unit, this means no additional wiring needed, Same controls and such, from inside NO difference, Only difference is top side) and it is a 15K Bit louder (But I run it on low fan) but that's more cool and the SAME ELECTRICAL DRAW.

I do not recommend Advent Air (made in China) abut there is anothr conpany (one of the "C" companies I think Like Coleman) that also makes a replacement Upper Unit (or rather an upper unit with an adapt-a-kit) for Carrir.
